This week I set up and installed my lovely new printer/scanner/fax machine, all by myself. I was very proud because I’ve never managed to install something like that before and have it work on the first try. My computers have always been set up by my friend and housemate, who is the official Gadget Guy for our group. But, this didn’t seem too hard, and I managed to do it. YAY!
It got me thinking about technology and how much a part of our sexy world it is. Who would have ever thought that soft warm phone sex and hard cold computers would ever pair up so well? But every service has a website, all of our ladies have blogs, some have individual websites. We have our free chatrooms that have helped build our amazing community, we PM and IM and email without even thinking about it, anyone who is the least bit curious about any fetish can find a wealth of information at his or her fingertips.
Technology, instead of stifling creativity, has encouraged people to find creative ways to use it. And goodness knows, the sex industry is always the forerunner there! VCR and VHS tapes – the great demand came from the idea that you could watch porn in the privacy of your own home, watch all the cocksucking or solo stroking videos you want without anyone but the guy at the rental counter knowing. So much better than going to one of those “dirty” movie theatres (and sitting in God knows what!). Phone sex went from the recorded tapes and 900 lines of the early eighties to party lines and call centers in the mid eighties and early nineties. And now we’re at home with high tech phones, high speed computers, audios, blogs and webcams. And I love it!! It has CHANGED a whole industry for the better, in my opinion.
