Serendipity

Nice things can happen by surprise. In life, in books, even on reality shows. I read the last Harry Potter book this weekend, it was full of darkness starred with bright moments. Each one was like a gift, something to be savored before you plunged back into the darkness. It was a talisman to bring with you on the journey, something to help you hold onto your courage.

Tonight, I was watching a reality show, Hell’s Kitchen. The chef, Gorden Ramsey, is known for his shouting and profanity, delivered in a cockney accent and rapid fired at his staff. The show offers aspiring chefs a chance to win a job at a top notch restaurant, if they can cook up to Ramsey’s standards, under his eagle eye and constant barrage of belittlement and insult.  The rare word of praise for a well prepared dish is especially heartening in thes circumstances. One of the four finalists this year was a young woman who had gained her experience working in a Waffle House, which brought her a lot of scorn from the other contestants. Julia proved herself to be a skilled cook with a lot of common sense, whose natural talents were very impressive. Ramsey eliminated her tonight, with sincere regret. Then he told her that he was personally sending her to culinary school, and that he wanted her to come back afterwards and win. It was one of the nicest things I ever saw anyone do on one of these shows. More so because this chef is famous for being a bastard, and yet he wasn’t afraid to step outside of his “role” to encourage and nurture a real talent when he had the opportunity. I was touched and impressed.

Personally, I had the nicest surprise tonight as well. I had the chance to do a fantasy with someone I’ve chatted with for over a year, someone who is a friend and playmate in chat and on the blogs. The mistress she usually calls encouraged her to call me and have some fun, as we have been planning a two mistress call for ages and been unable make the schedules work out. I think we were both a little nervous, when it comes right down to it, a little afraid that the person who was so fabulous in chat wouldn’t be the same on the phone. It was a great call. This silly sassy sissy is just as sweet and troublesome on the phone!! And SPANKING her was just as satisfying as it is in the chatrooms. I do think she’d make a lovely personal sissymaid, all dolled up in lingerie and high heels with stinging pink cheeks on display! And, who knows, there might be a little forcedbi slutdom in her future…only Mistress knows! And I’m not telling, so there!! Serendipity, this call was pure joy.
